How do I calculate a tip?

What is the standard tip percentage?
In the United States, the standard tip is 15-20% for restaurant service. Some common guidelines: 15% for satisfactory service, 18% for good service, and 20%+ for excellent service. For other services like haircuts or food delivery, 15-20% is also standard.

Should I tip on the total before or after tax?
